Coming out of high school I would like to think I was fairly level headed. For the most part I knew there was still so much to learn and I had a plan for the next 4 years which involved going to college and then finding a job. It is actually kind of funny that senior in high school me thought that right now we would be married with 2 kids living the white picket fence lifestyle by 28. Please understand seniors that even though you made it through COVID and some got robbed of a graduation, that there are bigger and brighter things ahead. That being said, there can also be a lot crazier things ahead as well like say a pandemic and protests calling for complete social reform. Come to think of it the seniors of this year have seen quite a bit in their final year of high school. Looking back though people always ask, “what is your advice to the generation behind you?” While that is a very hard question because I still feel like I hardly have any answers I guess we can start right there.
Which leads me straight into point number 2.
Honestly reading has allowed me to expedite my personal development so much it is crazy. I have been able to have discussions with people 10-20 years older than me and give them advice based on the theory and tips I have gained from reading. Some of my favorite books for changing mindset and setting yourself up for long-term success are:
That final book leads me to my most recent tangent and feeling of purpose. Please for the love of all things good in this world learn about personal finance.
It is crazy how many lessons are learned in what seems like such a short time. My final point of advice during these crazy times is to always stay curious. Learn from your fellow human and keep pushing forward towards whatever your goals are. There are many people out there who are willing to offer a helping hand if you just ask. The most important thing you can do as a young adult is keep working on relationships that build you up and cut away relationships that break you down. Start tracking the moves your making in finance, education, and towards your personal goals. If you ever need help feel free to reach out to me on facebook, Instagram, or text me! Thanks for taking the time to read my thoughts and hopefully this was able to shed some insight on your situation. If you feel like this would be or would have been useful to know, I would greatly appreciate it if you shared it with someone you know that is just starting out on this crazy thing we call life.
